Michele Magar

Michele Magar began her career as an award-winning national civil rights reporter. She was the first reporter to cover disability rights for a major news outlet during her tenure at National Public Radio. Ms. Magar earned a law degree from Stanford Law School in 1995, and practiced civil rights and poverty law with disability rights and legal aid organizations in the Bay Area before joining with Bonnie Milstein to establish her own civil rights law and consulting firm in San Francisco, Magar & Milstein. The firm specializes in housing discrimination law and in disability rights. Ms. Magar worked with a team of California advocates to develop an Advance Directive form for Californians with psychiatric labels, which can be accessed by requesting publication # 5088.01 through the website of California's protection and advocacy agency: http://www.pai-ca.org
